โš–๏ธ What are Take Profit Trader's trading rules?

News Trading Rules

During the Test phase, news trading is fully allowed with no restrictions. On Pro and Pro+ accounts, trading is restricted one minute before and after major events like FOMC announcements, Non-Farm Payroll (NFP), and CPI releases. Some news events are also restricted for specific instruments, such as crude oil inventories and bond auctions.

Expert Advisors and Copy Trading

Expert Advisors are not allowed on any account type. Copy trading, however, is allowed. Traders must ensure all copy trading follows firm rules and does not involve restricted practices or strategies.

No Counter Positions Rule

Traders are not allowed to hold open positions in opposite directions on the same product or on closely related products. This rule is in place to prevent hedging or conflicting positions within the same market.

Inactivity and CME Price Limit Rules

To keep a Pro account active, traders must trade at least one day each calendar week. If CME price limits are reached and a trader is still in a position, the Pro account may be lost. It is the traderโ€™s responsibility to exit trades before these limits are hit.

Drawdown and Max Loss Rules

Drawdown is the maximum loss allowed on an account. Test and Pro+ accounts use end-of-day trailing drawdown, updated at 5 PM EST. Pro accounts use intraday trailing drawdown that moves in real time. Once drawdown reaches the starting balance, it stops trailing. Traders can reset Pro accounts up to three times after passing the Test.

PRO+ (Live Account) Overview

PRO+ accounts allow copy trading on up to five accounts and use end-of-day drawdown. There are no payout limits, no consistency rules, no daily loss limits, and no buffer zones. Traders receive a 90% profit split on earnings.

How much does a Take Profit Trader account cost?

Take Profit Trader charges a monthly subscription rather than a one-time evaluation fee, and the cost rises with the size of the account being traded. Current plan prices, along with any live promotion, are listed in the pricing table above on this page. Plans differ by funding limit, drawdown allowance and profit split, so the right plan depends on the account size a trader intends to run rather than on price alone.

Comparing Take Profit Trader vs Funded Elite

When comparing Take Profit Trader vs Funded Elite, the two firms differ most in how they handle risk management, trading styles and the evaluation process. In our view Take Profit Trader leans toward a simpler, more transparent rule set, while Funded Elite structures its programme differently, so it is worth reading both rule sets before choosing. If you would rather have a one-step futures evaluation with no daily loss limit and news trading allowed, our Alpha Futures review covers a firm with a very different rule set. Why Choose Take Profit Trader

Take Profit Trader earns its 4.4/5 Trustpilot rating across 9,270+ reviews by delivering on the prop trader's biggest pain point โ€” getting paid. Day-one withdrawals with no minimum trading days, payouts via Plaid, PayPal or Wise within one business day, and a unique PRO+ tier that routes real orders through Tradovate make it one of the few US-based prop firms with a live-market path. The 80/20 split on PRO and 90/10 on PRO+ are competitive, and the NOFEE40 promo (40% off for life + zero activation fee) sharply lowers the entry cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Take Profit Trader is a futures prop firm. Traders pay a monthly subscription for an evaluation (Test) account, then move to a funded PRO account, and on the live PRO+ tier orders are routed through Tradovate. Withdrawals are available from day one, with no minimum number of trading days.
The core features are futures-only trading on standard and micro contracts, support for 15+ platforms including NinjaTrader and TradingView, live order routing through Tradovate on PRO+, copy trading across up to five accounts, and day-one withdrawals. Expert Advisors are not permitted on any account type.
You choose an account size, subscribe to the matching monthly plan, and trade the Test phase to its profit target while staying inside the drawdown rules. Passing moves you to a funded PRO account, and PRO+ adds live routing through Tradovate. Plan sizes and current pricing are listed in the pricing table on this page.
On the plus side: withdrawals from day one, a 90/10 split on PRO+, live Tradovate routing, and wide platform support. The trade-offs are a recurring monthly subscription rather than a one-time fee, end-of-day trailing drawdown that locks in gains during the Test phase, a consistency rule on Test, a cap of five PRO accounts, and futures-only market access.
Take Profit Trader charges a monthly subscription rather than a one-time evaluation fee, and the price rises with the size of the account being traded. Current plan prices, and any promotion running at the time, are shown in the pricing table above on this page - check them there rather than relying on a figure quoted elsewhere.
Its distinguishing points against other futures prop firms are day-one withdrawals with no minimum trading days and a 90/10 split on the live PRO+ tier. The trade-off is the subscription model, where several competitors charge a one-time evaluation fee instead. The Take Profit Trader vs Topstep vs Apex section above sets the differences out side by side.
Take Profit Trader does not publish a single leverage ratio. Position size is set by the futures contracts you trade, standard or micro, and risk is governed by the drawdown rules instead: end-of-day trailing drawdown on Test and PRO+ accounts, updated at 5 PM EST, and intraday trailing drawdown on PRO accounts.
The alternatives set out on this page are The Funded Trader, Apex Trader Funding, Fidelcrest and TradeDay. This review also compares the firm directly with Funded Elite.
The difference is whose capital is at risk and which market you trade. Stock trading uses your own money in equities, while Take Profit Trader funds a futures account once you pass its Test phase, so your outlay is the monthly subscription rather than the trading capital. In exchange you trade to the firm rules: drawdown limits, no counter positions, and news restrictions on PRO and PRO+ around events such as FOMC, NFP and CPI.
It suits futures traders who want to withdraw early rather than wait out a minimum trading period, and who value the 90/10 split and live Tradovate routing on PRO+. It suits you less if you prefer a one-time evaluation fee, need forex or CFD markets, or want to run Expert Advisors, none of which are supported here.
